Good day to you. I would like to ask, to pass N4, I need to study N4 only? or both of the study material here N4 and N5?

Also, the free study materials N4 & 5 here, is it enough for me to study to pass N4? Or I need to buy a new Book for N4?

    Thank you very much!

    • Nihongo Library says:

If you don't know N5 grammar, it's almost impossible to pass N4.
I've not posted all N4 materials yet so it's not enough. I recommend you buy Shinkanzen master N4 for grammar. You can also review N5 grammar with it.
The book "Jitsuryoku UP Yomu N4" is also recommendable.

  • Harshal Kame says:

    Thank you very much.
how can we get the audio?

    • Nihongo Library says:

The PDF file includes audio files. Please open it with Adobe Reader on your PC.

  • Len says:

I love these study materials so much. I love everything about the format and pacing. I regret not finding this sooner while I was taking Japanese classes. I am at the N3 level so I am using these materials as review but I really hope to see content for all levels (N5-N1). I would be the happiest girl in the world! This is going to help so many people, please keep up the great work! ♡

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi thanks for your comment! Did you also leave a review for my app, didn't you? I really appreciate it. ありがとうございます。
I plan to keep on making more materials and adding more contents to the app in the future.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to do them all for now but I will do my best.
Anyway, if you have any requests or problems, please feel free to contact me.
I'm so happy you're using my app and your comment made my day.
I hope you have a great day. Thanks again. =)

  • Carlo says:

Please more study materials for n4 and n3 to n1

    • Nihongo Library says:

In the future I will make more materials for N3 but now it's difficult forme.
Concerning N4, I'm going to upload more.

  • student says:

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me. I tried to print the kanji material, but the answers appears along with the printing. Beyond that, Thank you very much for realeasing these materials for free! Right now I'm preparing myself to take the N5.

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi, thanks for your comment.
Before printing, you have to press the "x" buttons on the page you want to print. Then, you can print out them without answers.
I hope you will pass the JLPT N5. =) がんばってください ^^

  • Sharky says:

Thank you very much for the Effort! I'm so greatful I found this site.Thank you again. It's the best!

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment! I hope my materials help you. =)

  • thanks alot! says:

i was unsatisfied with genki 1, cause it felt like they had left out alot of infos out, but this site is exactly what i was looking for! Thank you! i originally was looking for a super moshi n5 to buy and landed onto this site by accident, these are great materials! Again, thanks!

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you like my materials. Personally I like Genki 1. Perhaps the explanation about grammar is too long but there are good exercises to practice grammar. As you know, the purpose of Genki book isn't to prepare for JLPT N5 because it lacks many grammar tips. It would be good to use Genki book as well to practice more. =)
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

  • Ken Avenis says:

I wish that add JLPT N5 Conversation Book, Listening Practice Book, Reading Practice Book, make Coban App exist in Google Play Store and, also please improve the JLPT N5 & N4 Kanji Book because it's lack of reading and examples but there is an answering sheet, thank you for that. My last question is Minna No Nihongo Book is a wonderful book? Because its a not natural Japanese grammar and conversation. Thank you for these pdf. I HOPE THEY CAN APPRECIATED MORE. THANK YOU 🙂

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment. I try but to be honest I don't have enough time to do it all. I voluntarily run this website and the app by myself. Some people supported me economically by donating but I have to work to make a living so I can't spend all my time making materials.
I strongly recommend you buy books according to your needs. Minna No Nihongo is not one of the best books but there are some good exercises to practice grammar. It's not too bad as a supplementary book but if your purpose is to get good at speaking Japanese, you should buy other books.

Only digital books. I'm not sure if that is what you wanted to know. If not, please let me know.

  • PARTHA SARATHI GHOSH says:

Please tell me the syllabus of N5. can I appear N5 exam after preparation of 6 months

    • Nihongo Library says:

It depends on what books you use so I can't tell you the syllabus. The syllabus is a kind of lesson schedule for the teacher and students. If you learn by yourself, you should make your own syllabus or lesson schedule. If you use "Minna No Nihongo", you should finish 2 lessons a week at least then you can finish the book in 3- 4 months. So you will have 2 months to prepare for the JLPT N5 by doing mock tests.
      Good luck!

  • Jeevan says:

    Nice

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Thanks =)

  • Seth says:

Hi I am doing N5 grammar right now and I noticed that on lesson 4 there is a note regarding using は and が. But on the translate quiz I got confused with the correct answers for no. 4 and 5. Can you please help me? Thank you.

    • Nihongo Library says:

In fact, there is a slight difference between は and が. In this case, you can use both but the word order is different. Without context, we can't say which one is correct so you have two options to answer. For question no.4, you would say せんせいの ほんは どれですか or どれが せんせいの ほんですか. Both are correct. I hope it answers your question.

  • Edrian says:

Hi, is N4 is enough to read manga and light novels?

    • Nihongo Library says:

All depends on what kind of books you want read but I would say "No". Perhaps you can partially understand but N3 grammar is needed at least. The most difficult thing is vocabulary, I think. If you want to read light novels smoothly and manga, it would be ideal to know N2 grammar.

  • ADK says:

Hi, how does the audio work? I keep on clicking it, but it wouldn't work.

    • Nihongo Library says:

Please check the file is opened with ADOBE READER on your PC.
ON YOUR SMARTPHONE, IT DOESN'T WORK.
To play audio files, you need to install Adobe Flash player. Then you have to activate "Enable playing of 3D content" and "Use Flash Player" in the preference. I hope it works.

  • JOHN OCAMPO says:

  • Amit Mayank says:

Can you please attach the screen shot of your particular app so that will be easy for me.

  • Misaki says:

hope there is an app for android as well 🙂

    • Nihongo Library says:

I hope so too. =D I'm working on the Android version but it may take time.
I will let you know when it is available.

  • Lester says:

Hi,Nihongo Library. Sorry for bothering.I've already finish studying all the materials.May I know are there any new lesson for N4 grammar and vocabulary be publish on here?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, thanks for your comment. You have finished all materials?! Amazing! If you don't find any new lesson, that's everything. I will try to upload more materials if I can find more time.

  • Raihan says:

I love your content. I am using your content to learn Japanese. I found out recently you launched an app. It is very insightful. However, could you please make a way so I can turn off ads? Like, paying to disable ad? Cheers.

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, thanks for your comment. If many people want to remove ads by paying, I will add that feature to the app. It will be a subscription (monthly payment). Please let me know what you, guys, think about it. Thanks. =)

  • sofia says:

do you have any app that is suitable for androids??

    • Nihongo Library says:

  • misi says:

i'm sorry but where is the japanese grammar N5 pdf book. bacause i haven't finished yet

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, basically both have the same contents. I recommend you use the new version because the old version has errors. But If you are okay with even that、I let you the following link to download them. The link is available for only few weeks.
      https://nihongolibrary.com/old-japanese-book-for-n5/
      The password is "1234" .

      • misi says:

        thank you

  • Alice says:

Is there a published version of these books? If so, where can i buy them?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Unfortunately they are only in PDF for now.
If there is enough demand, probably I will publish the physical books. 😉

  • Sifat says:

Thank you so much for staff, God bless you,
    Please bring Android apps

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment! I will do my best. =)

  • Rashi khotani says:

Why don't you bring the same app for Android users ?

    • Nihongo Library says:

I'm working on Android version but it takes me time to learn a new programming language.
iOS apps are written in Swift / C++ language while Android apps are written in JAVA / Kotlin. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Kotlin and Java. =(
I have a regular work so I have few time to make new materials and the app, learn a new programming language etc.

  • Malinda says:

Thank you so much 🙂 So helpful ^^ but i can't play the audio 🙁 I have install the newest adobe reader but still can't play it 🙁

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment! Please check Adobe Flash Player is installed in your PC.
      https://get.adobe.com/jp/flashplayer/
You'd better check "3D & multimedia" in Adobe Reader settings (preferences) and you have to enable "Enable playing of 3D content" to play audio files.
Please let me know if it worked or not.

      • Malinda says:

Thank you so much! adobe flash player really works, but not from your link. I don't know why, but from your link, it doesn't work. but this link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/flash-player-needed-acrobat-reader.html works. Try to restart PC after installing adobe flash and double click on the audio section. When I opened the pdf it keeps telling that Flash Player is no longer supported after December 2020. Thankyou so much for your kindness. Looking forward for Nihongo Library apps on Android! Best regards!

        • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, Malinda! I'm happy to hear that. Perhaps the link "/jp" might be the problem for you.
Anyway it works for you, right? Great!
Yeah…Adobe Reader will no longer support Flash Player from next year. I don't know what will happen after. Probably we won't be able to play audio files anymore on PDF.
Thanks again for your comment! I will do my best.

I want to send credit, but it will take a little time because I have never used paypal.

Sorry, I want to provide a teaching aid for Japanese students , can I use the material in your books?

    • Nihongo Library says:

I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of Nihongo Library.
You can use my materials in your classes but please don't delete the link and the website name on the pages because the copyright belongs to Nihongo Library. If possible, could you advertise my app?
      Thank you so much!

      • Rizky Mentari says:

I plan to make a flashcard and share it to my students.
I want to design the flash card so it will easier for our students to memorize kanji.
I will present NIHONGGOLIBRARY as our source for material. And i will share your app too.
        Is it permitted?

        • Nihongo Library says:

I can't imagine how but ok. If my materials help your students to learn Japanese, I will be glad. Good luck and thank you for sharing.

      • iPoupon says:

Hi, I hope you got it, though it is not much but it is a thanks for these materials.
I decided to give the amount I would otherwise have paid for a "tutorial". They were using your material, that is how i found out about this site, so i opt to self-study instead and pay the source.

PS. I hope you will have an app for Android as well.

        • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, I have certainly received your donation. I suppose it is a big amount of money in your country. I'm so grateful to you for your generous donation. Thank you so much!! ^^

I'd like to inform you guys when Android version was released someday.

Hie can you plz help me with kanzen moshi test series n5,n4,n3 I will really appreciate !

  • SLLOM says:

voice dosnt work with Adobe Reader why?

      • SLLOM says:

        dosnt work also

        • Nihongo Library says:

Could you explain with more detail about your situation? With your comment just "doesn't work" I can't do anything to help you. Were other audio files working before? Please try to uninstall Adobe Reader and install it again. If it doesn't work, the problem may be somewhere else.

          • SLLOM says:

I hope you fix the problem in the fastest time

          • Nihongo Library says:

No, No. I CAN'T fix the problem. As the file works perfectly on my PC (Mac), the issue may come from you PC or Adobe Reader. You'd better check the Adobe Reader settings about "3D and multimedia options". It is also required to install Flash player to play the audio files.

  • Milan says:

Concerning the new book, mistakes were corrected and the design is changed a little bit. Now it is more comfortable to read. And the new book can be used with the app "Coban" so we can learn Japanese efficiently.

  • Harshal Gharat says:

    Hello,
Thank you for your Material, really appriciate your work.
Can you please make Android version of the Coban App.
    Regards

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment. I'd like to work on the android version this summer but for me it's not easy to make an app while working and studying a new programming language. I hope I can release it this year. =)

  • Mechz says:

This is insane… in all the right ways. 🙂 You are stellar for making these materials free. I'm a returning Japanese student, now an adult and self-studying post-university. Eventually, N2 is the goal. みんな、がんばろう!

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment! I totally agree with you. It is crazy to public freely materials. I hope one day all my efforts will compensate me.
Wow your goal is to pass N2?! すごい!がんばってください。=) 何かあったら、なんでも訊いてください。^^

  • Cherryl says:

  • khia says:

why doesn't the grammar n5 / n4 have kanji and is that all of the vocabulary for n4 ?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Sorry I don't understand what you want to say. Do you mean why isn't the N5 grammar book written in Kanji? Concerning the materials for N4 vocabulary, so far there are only adjectives but I will add more vocabulary lists.

  • khia says:

can i still use this just to learn japanese even if im not taking the n5 test?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Yes, of course. These are basic grammar.

  • Jigyasa says:

In which sequence I should study these books? Help me!
    I think it's like this
Hiragana- katakana- kanji- vocabulary and then grammer?

    • Nihongo Library says:

I would learn hiragana -> katakana -> grammar, vocabulary and kanji at the same time.
All dependes on what you want and your purpose but the most important thing is you enjoy learning Japanese.=)

  • japaneselearner says:

I noticed that in the N5 vocabulary list, it looked like some Kanji were missing and only the pronunciation in hiragana/katakana was shown. Why is this?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, all katakana words can't be written in Kanji and some words such as conjunctive adverbs, particles .etc are written only in hiragana. There are words written preferably in hiragana so in this case the kanji are omitted.

  • SLLOM says:

Are the N4 lessons complete? Are there lessons for N3 N2 N1?

    • Nihongo Library says:

No, there are more lessons for N4. I'm planning to provide materials for N3 in the future.

      • SLLOM says:

Would it be fine if you put the corresponding hiragana of each Kanji at N4 level? It would be much appreciated if you do. Thank you so much!

    • Nihongo Library says:

I put Furigana (hiragana above kanji) for N4 Kanji but I'm not thinking of putting Furigana for N5 kanji.
If I forgot putting some Furigana, please let me know. Thanks! =)

  • Maria says:

    Excellent Is really awesome. Thanks
    !

    • Nihongo Library says:

You're welcome and thank for your comment! =)

  • Ice says:

I would like to ask about kanjis. Are kanjis different from a word or is kanji a word itself, and what study plan could you recommend to me? Im a bit lose. I already learned hiragana, katakana, a few kanjis and radicals, as well as few words and grammar. Thank you in advance :))

    • Nihongo Library says:

Kanji are characters, just like Hiragana and Katakana.
In Japanese, there are many words pronounced the same way, so they are used to clarify the meaning of the words. But if you want, you can write all words in Hiragana or Katakana.
Study plan for Kanji or Japanese in general?
If it is for Kanji, I would recommend you to study the first 100 basic kanji for JLPT N5.
Otherwise, I would find a language exchange partner to practice speaking Japanese if I were you. Any questions, please feel free to ask me. =)

  • Sajal says:

Hello, how i can start listening practice for jlpt n5.Need your guideline. Thanks

    • Nihongo Library says:

It's a bit difficult question to answer, but if you have a book with a CD, I would recommend you to listen to it over and over. Otherwise, the best way is to have a conversation with a native Japanese speaker. Now it's easy to find a language exchange partner on the internet.

  • Scholastica says:

Hello! I just want to thank you for providing these lessons in PDFs for FREE! I love Japan a lot and I wanted to master the language and hopefully one day I would go there for work or for long vacations. Simply, I wanted to live there! May God bless you for your good deeds. • Pinky says:

Goodevening! May I ask what to do first in learning japanese? Because I have 0 knowledge about the characters in japanese and vocabularies.

    Thank you!

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi! Then I recommend you to study hiragana and katakana first. =)

  • Edrian says:

Sir what should i learn first to read manga or light novels?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment. It's hard to answer your question. Because it all depends on the manga or the light novel you want to read. I think you should know N4 grammar at least. In my opinion, N2 is necessary to read manga and novels without stress. So if I were you, first I would learn N5 and N4 grammar. Then I would start to read Mangas and light novels while learning N3 grammar.Anyway, I recommend you to find a way that works for you.

  • Vitor says:

Thank you very much for these excellent study materials! How many lessons there will be for the N4 grammar?

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi,

  • SALMAN FAREEZ says:

    Hi,
I have completed Genki 1 and 2.. Now I need to prepare for a JLPT N3… Does "TOBIRA GATEWAY TO ADVANCED JAPANESE" is enough to pass at JLPT N3…

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi,
It seems it can be hard to study with TOBIRA GATEWAY TO ADVANCED JAPANESE just after Genki 1 and 2. But if you can keep your motivation and learn well with it, it is enough to pass the exam N3.

could you possibly suggest any trick how can i remember the kanji's?? im struggling

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Thanks for your comment.
If you are talking about N5 kanji, it is very easy to rememberer them.
I recommend you to learn them with images and don't try to memorize all words and meanings.
You only need to learn the words you use frequently.
After learning vocabulary, you can easily memorize them.
I highly recommend "KANJI LOOK AND LEARN" book. It gives you an idea what are kanji. =)

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi, thanks for your comment.
I think I already answered twice your same question.
Any way,to answer your question, all depends on your purpose. Why do you want to learn Japanese?
If you think about it, you can find what you should learn first. Without knowing your purpose, I can't give you any advice.
But if I were you, after learning Hiragana and Katakana I would start to study grammar and vocabulary and find a Japanese conversation partner or penpal on the internet to practice my Japanese. Concerning grammar, it would be good to study on a daily basis from lesson 1.

  • Younus says:

Can you please upload N5 vocabulary in Romaji?

    Hello Nihongo library !!

    Thanks in advance!!

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Happy New year!
First of all, it is need to study Hiragana and some Katakana. Then you'd better start to study grammar and vocabulary at the same time. After learning about 400 words, it is time to study Kanji. If you are good at English, "Genki" is a good book to study Japanese.
For preparing N5, I recommend you to buy some mock exam books. (Or you can find them on the internet). I hope my answer help you. If you have something, please feel free to comment here.

Please recommend me a good JLPT N4 and N3 book, which must be include (Grammar, Vocabulary, Kanji, Reading and Listening CD – FOR PRACTICING & ALSO FOR LEARNING) with answers, listening scripts and english translation…

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, I think "Genki II" is a good book for N4. I also recommend you "Shin Kanzen Master" series for N4 and N3 grammar. You can easily understand the grammar with them.
"Jitsuryoku Appu JLPT N4 Yomu" is also recomendable to go over before JLPT.

Hello first of all thank you for all syllabus this is so helpful . Secondly please give us katakana master i am being patient but when it will come.i am starting to learn n5 I am learning hiragana and katakana and I am asking to you which should I learn first kanji , vocabulary, grammar

    Thank you.

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment. The material for Katakana is available now. Concerning what you should learn first, you can start with what you want to learn. If you like Kanji, you should learn Kanji. All depends on your objective. If your objective is to communicate with natives, you should learn grammar and vocabulary at the same time. If it is to read manga or books in Japanese, you should learn all at the same time. To study a language there is no priority. The important thing is to have fun learning for reaching your goal.

First of all , thank you for all these materials . but I have a question : what is the difference between the KANJI and the vocabulary?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your comment! Kanji is a kind of hieroglyph that comes from Chinese. In Japanese three alphabets (Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji) are used.

✅ Nihongo Library (everyone who make this happen) First I would like to thank you for the $0 book lessons, aside from your busy schedule I hope you could find the time to upload Kanji Book for the JLPT N4 exam. I'm a government certified caregiver in the Philippines all I need is to pass the JLPT N4 exam. I registered for the December exam but failed paying due to other financial priorities so I will take my chances for the 2020 exam. More power to you and thank you. Ernesto Jr.

    • Ernesto Jr says:

PS: I'm a 43 year old male single parent with 2 kids and working in Japan as a caregiver will make kids future brighter so once again Thank You so much.

    • Nihongo Library says:

I'm trying to find time to make more materials for the J+PT N4 but as the same is coming on December, I also have to prepare many things for my student.

I thank you so much for those materials. it helps me a lot.
    I Wish u all the best. 🙂

    • Nihongo Library says:

Thanks for your kind comment! I'm so glad that my materials help you.=)

  • wen says:

Hi, thanks for the materials, they are good!
May I ask that for lesson 7 there is a question with answer saying that " Nani de koko ni kimashita ka?" From what I know, before the particle de should put Nan instead of Nani right? Nan is for n,d,t, am I right? or there are other rules that I dont know?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, thanks for your kind comment =) You noticed that point?! Great!
You learn grammar very well! You're completely right. "Nani" becomes "Nan" before n, d and t.So "Non de" is more correct academically.
In the spoken language, "Nan de" also means "Why".
So depending on the context, "Nan de kimashita ka?" would be "Why did you come here." or "How did you get here".
"Nani de" means "how" clearly, so I use "Nani de" instead of "Nan de".
Minna No Nihongo uses "Nan de" to say "How". You can use both but I recommend you to use "Nani de" to say "how" so that people understand you clearly. =)

      • Ernesto Jr says:

Wow this web site is really helping me a lot "Nani" becomes "Nan" before n, d and t so "Non de" is more correct. "Nani de" means "how" clearly, so you use "Nani de" instead of "Nan de" which is why. I'm so excited and giving me a positive vibe that I could pass the N4 exam in 2020 at my age past 40 working as a caregiver in Japan could really help my kids and family here in the Philippines. Thank you so much, also I already followed the FB page.

      • wen says:

So desu ka. thanks for you reply and explanation!!
Can I understand it as when we are writing or taking exam it would be Nan de, but when speaking we use nani de to make people understand clearly?

        • Nihongo Library says:

Possibly some people in Kanto area (Tokyo, Kanagawa…) use "Nan de" to say "How" but at least in Kansai area (Osaka, Kyoto, Nara…) "Nan de" means "Why".
In fact many teachers from Tokyo or Kanto area also consider "Nan de" as "strange Japanese" to say "How". Of course, all depend on the context. But Minna no Nihongo is still using "Nan de" that can lead a misunderstanding.
When we write, we clearly distinguish between "How" and "Why". We write "どうして", "なぜ" etc to say "Why" and "どうやって", "どのように" etc to say "How".
Exactly, so that's why when speaking we use "Nani de" to make people understand clearly. =)

  • Sn says:

It's to helpful…u must create an app n also o wanted to know that is the n5 PDF enough for exam?

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi, Thanks for your kind comment! Actually I'm working on a Japanese learning App. I think it wiil be the best App to study Japanese.
If all goes well, I'm releasing the App next month for iOS. (For Android it will be later)
I would say you those materials for N5 are enough for the grammar. I will recommend you to do more exercises (like JLPT pre-test) to prepare for the exam.

Hello there . First of all a big thank you for providing such content . but i need to tell you this .some of the vocab in hiragana master are wrong . for example : Ie means no but you have given the meaning house . for house we have uchi . same goes for other words too . aoi for blue but you have mentioned AO only. I reckon that it could be a mistake or something else i don't know as i am completely new to N5 thats why i am saying this . Do reply if i am correct or wrong

    • Nihongo Library says:

      HI,
Thanks for your comment and intention to help me. I really appreciate it.
In fact, "uchi" also means "house, home".
Concerning the word "Ao" and "Aoi", both mean blue.
The difference between "Ao" and "Aoi", "Ao" is a noun and "Aoi" is an adjective.
Anyway, if you find errors or something weird, please let me know.
Always welcome to have your comment about errors and demands.
      Thanks so much! =)

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi,
All you have to do is to click all " x " buttons on the page you want to print.
It is a default setting for interactive PDF so I can't change it. Each time you print them, you have to click " x " buttons before printing.

I'm so excited to see all the lessons together, and again thank you, I appreciate your efforts this means a lot to me

I am now studying from your given materials. These are very good .
But the problem is what should I learn first kanji vocabulary or grammar or combination . Please help . Thanks again.

    • Bhagwant singh says:

And do I have to learn kanji in my vocabulary list

      • Bhagwant singh says:

Sorry in n5 vocabulary book. Thanks.

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi thanks for your comment.
If you feel comfortable with reading, you'd better learn grammar, kanji and vocabulary at the same time. Otherwise, you should concentrate on grammar and reading more in hiragana and katakana. Anyway, it is your decision. You should learn what you want and need now.
By the way, all comment will be published after checking if it is spam or not.

Hi, now I know the names 1 dan and 5 dan . Thank you for your help.
I was asking for that book because my neighbour had already passed n1 and kanji kentei 8 he was asking that for me ,that can this book be used for kanji kentei 1 because other books are very costly.thanks you for your help.

    • Nihongo Library says:

      Hi,
      I see.
According to the KanKen (Kanji Kentei) website, it's necessary to know 6000 kanji.
Few natives have KanKen 1kyu because it's extremely difficult.
I don't know if it is worth to study for KanKen 1kyu because you don't have problem with 3000 Kanji to work and live in Japan.
I run my eyes over the book but the book is useless because it does't have neither exercises nor example words.
If your neighbor has N1, he'd better try to pass KanKen Pre-1kyu.
The book "漢検 準1級 分野別 精選演習" is recommendable. If he want to learn in an efficient way, I would strongly recommend him to buy this book.

      • bhagwant singh says:

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi! Genki is a good book so if you keep on learning with it, you can get a good level.
But is it not enough to read Genki's text to practice? I think you can improve reading and writing skills by doing exercises and reading the book.
If you tell me what kind of help you need exactly, probably I can help you.
I hope you keep it up.

      • bhagwant singh {indian } says:

Hi, I found a book on internet it is named as '6000 chinese characters with Japanese readings',can you tell me that it is enough for kanji kentei 1 test or not . And in the jlpt n5 vocabulary book you have written in some pages that verbs group 1 ,and after it verbs group 5 I think that it should be verbes group 2 .Thankyou.kindly check,So that nobody will confuse .Thanks again.

        • Nihongo Library says:

2000 kanji are enough to pass JLPT N1. I consider this kind book as useless. I recommend you to learn step by step, otherwise it's very easy to discourage you.
I use the name " group 1 (1 Dan)" and " group 5 (5 Dan)" on purpose. In Genki, Minna No Nihongo etc it is called group I and Group II, but the true name in Japanese is Group 1 (1 Dan Katsuyou) and group 5 (5 Dan Katsuyo).
At universities they use the name "1 dan" and "5 dan".If you know more about Japanese language history in the future, you'd better learn them in this way.
Anyway, "1 dan (group 1)" is equivalent to "Group II" and "5 dan (group 5)" is equivalent to "Group I".

    AND I LEARNT BY MYSELF.

CAN YOU SUGGEST ME FOR HOW I FOUND JOB IN JAPAN FOR A ANIME COMPANY COZ I AM ANIMATOR AND I WANNA DO JOB IN A ANIME STUDIO.

    • Nihongo Library says:

Hi! Thanks for your kind comment.
I don't know much about the animation, but if you look for an animation job, probably you will find animation offers in "Indeed" , "Gaijin pot" etc.
I don't recommend you to work at Japanese animation company because I've often heard working condition is bad and the salary is low. But if you wanna really work in Japan as an animator, you'd better send the portfolio of your works directly to Anime companies.

  • Dimple says:

Plz help me that how should I start with jlpt exams study. I leave in India. Im self studying n Wanted to start study for exams but can not understand how should I start n which books to refer.

    • Nihongo Library says:

Do you already have grammar knowledge for N5? If you do, just you need to practice and prepare for the exam by doing mock exams. I recommend you to buy "Jitsuryoku UP YOMU N5" or "N5-Zettai gokaku-kanzenmoshi" for example.
If you don't, you should study grammar step by step. You can use my materials for JLPT N5 or the book "Genki" is also a good material to study Japanese grammar in English. It requires 200-300 hours to reach this level. You should calculate how many hours you need to study every day before the exam. I hope it helps you.

      それから、たくさん問題を解いて練習するといいですよ。合格するためには2500語ぐらい単語を先に覚えると文章を読む時楽になるからおすすめです。勉強頑張ってください。
